Who we are

Humu's Island Treasures is a small, family-run art studio operated by Whit and Taylor Wesenberg, based in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. We hand-carve and hand-paint surfboard-shaped wall art inspired by Polynesian culture and the Florida Keys, and sell it directly through this website, Etsy, and local art shows. Humu's Island Treasures is not a registered company; it is operated by Whit and Taylor as individuals.

Information we collect

Information you give us

The only form on this site is the inquiry form on our Contact page. Depending on the type of inquiry you choose, it may collect:

• Your name (required)
• Your email address (required)
• Your phone number (optional)
• The type of inquiry you select: a specific piece, a custom commission, or a general question
• The title of an artwork you are asking about (optional)
• Requested dimensions for a custom piece (optional)
• A description of the custom piece you have in mind (optional)
• A link to an inspiration image you provide (optional)
• Your question or message text (optional)
• Your confirmation that we may contact you about your inquiry

If you email or call us directly instead of using the form, we receive whatever information you choose to include, such as your email address, phone number, and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically

We do not use advertising pixels, cookie-based analytics, or other tracking scripts on this site. Like any website, our hosting provider logs basic technical information when you visit – such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site that referred you here – as part of standard web server activity. Our host also provides us with aggregate traffic statistics derived from these logs. We do not use any of this information to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites.

We also use Google Search Console to see how our site performs in Google Search, such as which search terms lead to our site and whether pages are indexed correctly. Search Console is verified through a DNS record for our domain, does not run any script on this site, and does not place any cookie or code in your browser. It shows us aggregate data Google already collects about search results; it does not tell us who you are.

While you are filling out the inquiry form, your in-progress answers are temporarily saved in your browser's own session storage so you do not lose your draft if you navigate away. This draft stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is cleared once you submit the form or close the browser tab.

How we use it

• To respond to your inquiry, question, or commission request
• To follow up about a piece you asked about, or to send details and updates about a custom order you requested
• To keep the site secure and working correctly, using the technical logs described above

We do not use your information for automated marketing campaigns, and we do not use it to make any automated decision that affects you.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not set cookies. The fonts used on this site are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from Google at the time you visit, so no font-related request is sent to Google or any other third party. Because nothing on this site tracks you across visits or sites, there is nothing to opt out of today, and this site does not currently need to respond to Global Privacy Control signals. If that ever changes, we will update this page first.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Web3Forms – the service that processes and delivers submissions from our contact form to our email inbox. Web3Forms receives whatever you enter into the form in order to send it to us.
• Hostinger – our web hosting provider, which stores the site's files, the routine server logs described above, and the visit statistics built from those logs.
• Google Search Console – used to view how our site performs in Google Search results. It does not receive any personal information from your visit; it only shows us aggregate data Google already collects when it crawls and indexes the public web.

We do not use a CRM, email marketing platform, advertising platform, or any tool that tracks you across visits or sites, so your information is not shared with any service of that kind. We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or if Humu's Island Treasures is ever transferred to a new owner, in which case customer information would transfer as part of that business.

Data retention

We keep inquiry and message information for as long as it is useful for responding to you, fulfilling an order or commission, and keeping reasonable business records, and we remove it when it is no longer needed for those purposes.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information you share with us, including a spam filter on our contact form, and we take reasonable steps to securely dispose of records that are no longer needed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you about your inquiry, at any time. If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have additional rights under that law, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising – rights that are already satisfied here, since we do not sell or share your information or run targeted advertising.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Third-party links

Our site links to places like Etsy, Instagram, and Facebook. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those or any other site you reach through a link on our site, including any listing or marketplace page. Please review their privacy policies separately.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it occasionally.
